Would you like to volunteer with Shelter From The Storm ministries? We would love to have you! We currently have about 75 volunteers and we need to double that in order to serve more families.
What do volunteers do?
Volunteers at Shelter From The Storm Ministries serve in a variety of ways. SFTSM needs front desk volunteers, childcare volunteers, cleaning volunteers and family activity volunteers.
Other opportunities, depending on your background and skills, may include:
- Maintenance (painting, cleaning, etc.)
- Marketing (Facebook, newsletters)
- Website Design (experience necessary)
- Food (making meals, cooking skills, planning, shopping)
- Salon Services
- Budget Council
- Help Moving (trucks, trailers, people)
- Car Repairs
- Job Search Assistance
- Bible Study Leaders
- Case Managers
- Intercessory Prayer for clients
What is the time commitment?
To begin, volunteers will meet in person with Amy our House Manager for a 30 – 40 minute orientation. After that, volunteers do two hour shifts and can choose when they serve through our online volunteer scheduling tool.
Do volunteers need a background check?
Yes. Potential volunteers will fill out a volunteer application form and SFTSM will run a background check at no cost to the volunteer.
Is there a minimum age for volunteers?
Yes, volunteers must be at least 18. Children can volunteer with their parent, as long as the parent has gone through the application, background and orientation process.
