Shelter from the Storm Ministries

Testimonies

Real Families. Real Journeys. Real Change.

At Shelter from the Storm Ministries, every family who walks through our doors carries a story—one of struggle, courage, and a longing for a fresh start. At SFTSM, moms and their children find more than a roof over their heads; they find safety, stability, and a community that believes in their future.

Our testimony page is a place where those stories come to life. These are real moms, real kids, and real journeys of transformation—made possible through prayer, partnership, and the unwavering support of people like you.

We invite you to read their stories and witness how hope grows, healing happens, and lives change every single day.

Nisha’s Story

When Nisha first came to Shelter from the Storm Ministries, she was a young mom doing everything she could to keep her two-year-old daughter safe while living out of her car. She had walked through childhood trauma, seasons of homelessness, and the heartbreak of losing the grandmother who once gave her stability. Life had been a long road of surviving day to day.

Everything changed when she found Shelter from the Storm Ministries.

At SFTSM, Nisha discovered a safe place to rest, recover, and rebuild. Surrounded by support, encouragement, and the love of Christ, she began healing in ways she never thought possible.

Today, Nisha is thriving — not just surviving. Her story is a testament to God’s grace and the life-changing impact of a community that believes every mom and child deserves hope and a future.

Martha’s Story

It’s with full hearts and a deep sense of gratitude that we share
the inspiring story of Martha and her two children, a 17-year-old
daughter and a 9-year-old son, as they graduate from Shelter
from the Storm Ministries (SFTSM). Their journey over the past
several years has been one of perseverance, sacrifice, and
steadfast faith, and we are thrilled to celebrate how far they’ve
come. The family had been with us for nearly 2 years, and had
been homeless for over 3 years. They are living in their new home after an incredibly long and challenging journey.
